About the opportunity  

The Clinical Nurse in the Acute Care Team (ACT), Mental Health Service Group provides Mental Health triage, assessment and consultation liaison for all consumers referred to the ACT. 

The position will be required to work collaboratively with consumers and multidisciplinary professionals to provide mental health assessment, intervention and consultation, mobile crisis response and case management duties as required in accordance with professional standards and legislation consistent with the 10 Year Mental Health Strategy for Queensland and the National Standards for Mental Health Services in the Mental Health Acute Care Team.

The role is either permanent full-time or part-time role.  

Role requirements

  • Qualification: Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent certification relevant to the position is mandatory.
  • Highly Desirable:
    • Possession of or working towards a relevant post-registration and/or tertiary qualifications in mental health nursing. 
    • Credentialed status (or willingness to undertake and complete requirements) with the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses.
    • Eligibility for appointment as an Authorised Mental Health Practitioner (AMHP) under the Mental Health Act 2016.
  • All staff within the Mental Health Service Group may be required to work in other areas of the Service.
  • This is a VPD risk role.

The ideal applicant will be someone who has proven ability and can demonstrate the following:

  • Comprehensively assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care at an advanced level within a complex environment.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with team members, patients and other stakeholders, including participation in relevant networks to achieve work unit outcomes.
  • Provide nursing leadership in the clinical and professional setting including the role modelling of effective communication and problem solving.
  • Use information and reporting systems appropriate to the position in order to achieve outcomes and identify areas for improvement.
  • Provide clinical education and support at an advanced level and demonstrate own professional development.

  • Salary range: $4368.80 - $4678.10 p.f. / $57.48  - $61.55 p.h. (NG6-1)
  • 5 weeks annual leave with 17.5% loading
