The Queensland Academy of Sport is highly invested in Paralympic sports, and this roleprovides Physiotherapy support to our Wheelchair Rugby, Wheelchair Basketball, and Para-Archery programs. The successful candidate will also support the transition of athletes from the QAS Para-Unit into elite sport training environments and contribute to projects relating to the uplift in Para-sport within the QAS.

Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Provide integrated physiotherapy services that optimise athlete health, wellbeing, and performance within QAS-supported programs.
  • Engage in proactive screening, monitoring, and management processes that support early intervention and long-term athletic development.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation within the Athlete Management System (AMS) to maintain continuity of care and performance insights.
  • Collaborate closely with coaches, performance support staff, and medical practitioners to align health strategies with performance goals.
  • Contribute to multidisciplinary planning and review meetings, offering expert guidance on injury prevention, rehabilitation, and workload management.
  • Foster strong relationships with athletes and staff to create a collaborative, athlete-centred performance environment.
  • Engage in continuous improvement through consultation with the Physiotherapy Technical Lead and contribution to system enhancement initiatives.

Mandatory qualifications     

  • Bachelor of Physiotherapy or equivalent
  • Current Title of APA Sports and Exercise Physiotherapist OR APA Neurological Physiotherapist
  • Current full registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Physiotherapist
  • Current “Working with Children” / Blue Card (before commencing services)
