Cross River Rail Delivery Authority (CRRDA)…Your chance to work with the best!

The Cross River Rail Delivery Authority is building a new 10.2km rail line that includes 5.9km of twin tunnels running under the Brisbane River and CBD; with four new underground stations at Boggo Road, Woolloongabba, Albert Street and Roma Street.

Once complete, it will provide trains with a much-needed alternative rail path through the core of the current SEQ Rail network, unlocking a bottleneck and allowing more trains to run more often across the whole of South East Queensland.

The Cross River Rail Delivery Authority is also delivering multiple supporting projects and activities in conjunction with the Department of Transport and Main Roads. These include accessibility rebuilds for eight surface stations, construction of three new stations on the Gold Coast; upgrades for stabling yards; track works and surface rail enhancements; and the introduction of a new ETCS digital signalling system.

About the Role

The Senior Rail Staging & Possessions Engineer is responsible for planning, developing and implementing construction staging strategies that support project delivery while maintaining rail network operations.

The role provides engineering and technical input across construction staging, possession planning and multidisciplinary project integration, ensuring alignment between construction activities, operational requirements and stakeholder expectations.

Working across engineering, operations and project delivery functions, the role evaluates staging scenarios, identifies risks and supports delivery approaches that minimise impacts to rail services and support delivery outcomes.

The role works closely with Queensland Rail, the Department of Transport and Main Roads and delivery partners to support staged construction methodologies through possession regimes.

This opportunity is offered as a fixed-term contract until September 2028 with possible extension

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development, implementation and governance of Cross River Rail Network Infrastructure States to define construction sequencing
  • Develop and evaluate construction staging strategies, including contingency planning, to align with the delivery program and operational requirements
  • Assess and assure rail possession strategies, including scope, resourcing requirements and delivery readiness
  • Participate in constructability, systems integration and multidisciplinary design reviews to identify risks, constraints and opportunities
  • Represent the project in governance forums, technical working groups and stakeholder meetings
  • Work with Queensland Rail, DTMR, contractors and delivery partners to maintain alignment between staging, operations and project delivery
  • Identify, assess and manage risks associated with construction staging and infrastructure transitions

About You:

  • Experience delivering infrastructure projects in rail or similar environments, including construction staging, delivery sequencing, Network Infrastructure States and possession planning
  • Ability to analyse and interpret engineering, operational and project information across multiple disciplines to support staging and delivery decisions
  • Experience reviewing engineering designs, technical documentation and staging strategies, and supporting integration of construction, operational and network requirements
  • Experience working with stakeholders including asset owners, operators, contractors, government agencies and project teams
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and support delivery outcomes in a complex project environment
  • Bachelor of Engineering recognised by Engineers Australia (desirable)
  • Rail experience is highly regarded
