Parliamentary Services is seeking a proactive and digitally savvy Assistant Electorate Officer with a focus on Social Media and Community Engagement to support Sam O'Connor MP, Member for Bonney, based in the Labrador Electorate Office on the Gold Coast.

In this dynamic role, you'll lead social media and communications while supporting constituents across a vibrant and growing Gold Coast community. This is an exciting opportunity to combine creativity, organisation and community engagement in a meaningful public-facing role.

This is a 12 month opportunity with the possibility of extension.

Key Objectives

  • Lead media and communications, including social media and newsletters.
  • Provide constituent and administrative support to the Electorate Office.
  • Build strong relationships with the local community and stakeholders.

Your Role

  • Support the day-to-day operation of the electorate office.
  • Lead social media strategy, planning and content creation across platforms.
  • Monitor and respond to online engagement, messages and community feedback.
  • Create and publish posts, graphics and videos aligned to the Member's priorities.
  • Assist with media requests, responses and communications.
  • Produce e-newsletters and coordinate print communications.
  • Manage community engagement resources, merchandise and event equipment.
  • Respond to constituent enquiries and manage casework records.
  • Support events, sponsorships, community visits and local initiatives.
  • Assist with financial tracking of expenses and community funding.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience managing social media channels in a professional setting.
  • Strong digital skills, including content creation and video editing.
  • Ability to interpret analytics and improve content performance.
  • Excellent writing skills for media, newsletters and online communications.
  • Creative, adaptable and proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Interest in politics, current affairs and community engagement (desirable).
