Ingham Health Service is a 28-bed inpatient facility with emergency and general surgical services.
Ingham is culturally diverse town with a rich Italian history; just over an hour's drive north from Townsville it offers a unique collection of culture, fresh produce and vast green landscapes.
About your opportunity
The purpose of this position is to provide medical leadership and high-quality clinical services for the delivery of maternity services, surgical services, hospital inpatients and outpatients. This role forms a part of a multidisciplinary team delivering health services to the Hinchinbrook community. The role of the Senior Medical Officer (SMO) is crucial in this context, providing high-quality clinical and non-clinical services to benefit the patients and clients of the Townsville Hospital and Health Service (THHS). This may include both providing a service as a doctor, and advocating for its importance to the Hinchinbrook district.

Competitive salary and benefits:
We offer attractive remuneration packages and generous leave entitlements.
- Salary range: $187,569 to $274,678 p.a. (L13-L27)
- 4 to 6 weeks annual leave with 14%-17.5% loading
- 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation
- Plus Salary Sacrificing options may be available
- Flexible working arrangements might be available for this role
Requirements:
Mandatory qualifications and proof of registration
- Qualified as a medical practitioner, qualifications in speciality areas and current registration and/or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration or membership (if applicable) with the appropriate registration authority or association. Either:
- Currently enrolled with the Australian General Practice Training Program or alternatives available including RVTS or Independent pathway; or
- Fellowship of either the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM) or the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) is preferred.
- Ideally the candidate would be a Rural Generalist with: - successful completion of advanced skills training in Anaesthetics (JCCA, Dip RGA, Advanced Certification in Rural Generalist Anaesthesia ) or about to complete training year (pending examination).
