About us:

General Medicine at Rockhampton Hospital cares for patients with a diverse range of acute and chronic conditions, from stroke and infectious diseases to renal care, detoxification, and high-dependency medical presentations. As the major referral centre for Central Queensland, you'll gain exposure to complex cases while continuing to build your skills and confidence.

Working in a 32-bed ward alongside experienced nurses, physicians, and allied health professionals, you'll be supported to deliver holistic, patient-centred care and see the real impact of your work. About the role:

  • Lead and coordinate the General Medicine Unit, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centred care and positive clinical outcomes.
  • Provide strong operational and clinical leadership, supporting multidisciplinary teams while maintaining compliance with professional, organisational, and accreditation standards.
  • Use advanced clinical expertise, critical thinking, and decision-making skills to drive clinical governance, quality improvement, and service development initiatives.
  • Foster a positive and supportive workplace culture through mentorship, coaching, education, and workforce development, helping staff grow and succeed.
  • Manage human, financial, and material resources effectively while championing innovation, research, and evidence-based practice to improve patient care and service performance.

About you:

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA/NMBA is mandatory, with postgraduate qualifications in a relevant field highly regarded and expected to be completed if not already held.
  • Demonstrated advanced clinical knowledge and accountability in delivering safe, evidence-based, person-centred care and identifying healthcare priorities.
  • Proven experience in operational leadership, including the development and implementation of policies, quality standards, workforce planning, resource management, and best-practice rostering.
  • Commitment to education, professional development, and mentoring, with the ability to support learning, build capability, and foster growth within nursing and multidisciplinary teams.

What we offer:

Total monthly remuneration value of up to $14,447 p.m. is comprised of:

  • An hourly rate between $70.58 - $76.63 p.h.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
