About us:

The Perioperative Unit is in block seven in the West Wing of Gladstone Hospital.  The Gladstone Hospital has two operating rooms and a procedure room.  Services include elective and emergency surgery, Day Surgery, Pre-Anaesthetic Clinic, and CSSD.  The Perioperative Unit provides clinical care through the development and maintenance of relevant and proven patient care standards involving ongoing research in clinical applications. Day Surgery Unit services the operating theatres and is staffed from 6.45am in the morning until 7pm at night to safely discharge the patients. There are 3 beds and 5 chairs in the unit and are located close to the Recovery Unit.

About the role:

  • The Clinical Nurse within Gladstone Perioperative Unit is a registered nurse who demonstrates advanced clinical expertise and autonomy in the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care.
  • The Clinical Nurse provides leadership in clinical decision-making, coordination of patient care, and mentors nursing staff across various nursing roles
  • The Clinical Nurse contributes to service excellence through portfolio responsibilities in clinical practice, education, research, and may assume leadership duties in the absence of the senior nursing team.

About you:

  • Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • While not mandatory, a relevant qualification would be well regarded.
  • Develop, facilitate, implement and evaluate specialist education for patients/clients/residents, families and clinical staff in response to identified and emerging needs.
  • Maintain a high level of interpersonal and communication skills, working effectively with individuals, groups and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.

What we offer:

Total remuneration value of up to $62,296 p.a. is comprised of:

  • An hourly rate between $57.48 - $61.55 p.h.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
