The Role
An opportunity has become available for an Assistant Director (Medical Imaging Technology - Ultrasound) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 13 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.
You will
- Lead the strategic planning and lifecycle management of ultrasound equipment and technology
- Provide high-level professional supervision, mentoring and capability development
- Lead the operational management and coordination of the ultrasound service
- Provide expert clinical education and knowledge translation at local, state and national levels
About you
To be successful in this position you will require:
- Tertiary degree in Medical Ultrasound or Radiographer
- Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- Possession of an appropriate User License issued under the Queensland Radiation Safety Act 1999
- Status as an Accredited Medical Sonographer (General) with the Australian Sonographers Accreditation Registry or Possession of an appropriate User License issued under the Queensland Radiation Safety Act 1999
- Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
- Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
- Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
- Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

- Permanent full time
- Base salary ranging from $161,540 - $167,217 per annum.
About Us
The Medical Imaging Department at Gold Coast University Hospital (GCUH) is one of the largest and most comprehensive diagnostic imaging services in Queensland, delivering a full suite of modalities including ultrasound, CT (Computed Tomography), MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaginging), nuclear medicine, fluoroscopy and interventional radiology. The Sonography Service operates as a specialist stream within Medical Imaging, supporting a high-volume, tertiary-level caseload across a broad range of subspecialties including obstetrics, vascular, musculoskeletal, abdominal and point-of-care ultrasound. The team comprises advanced sonographers, radiographer/sonographers and ultrasound trainees who work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment to deliver complex diagnostic and interventional ultrasound services across GCHHS, underpinned by a strong commitment to innovation, education, research and continuous investment in contemporary technology and infrastructure
