About the role
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Senior Social Worker or Psychologist to join our Child Development Services (CDS) team within North West Hospital and Health Service.
In this leadership role, you will deliver high-level clinical services to children aged 0–16 years with developmental delays and disabilities, while supporting families to access early intervention and community supports.
This unique opportunity also involves outreach service delivery across the region, including travel and telehealth, making a genuine difference in rural and remote communities.
Working with us
- Eligible health practitioners entitled to accrue an additional three days professional development leave per annum, resulting in a total of six days professional development leave per annum.
- Eligible health practitioners working in designated remote areas will be entitled to a professional development allowance of $3,512.00 per annum.
- Rural and Remote incentive: Category D allowance of $431.22 p.f.
- Tax savings through salary sacrificing options are also available.
Requirements
- For Psychologists: Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration with the appropriate registration authority or association. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/ manager, prior to the commencement of clinical duties. Current registration as a Psychologist with Australian Health Practitioner Registration Authority (AHPRA) is mandatory.
- While not mandatory, additional possession/or working towards of a relevant qualification would be well regarded. For example, post graduate studies in paediatric psychology.
- For Social Workers: It is a mandatory requirement for all Social Work positions that the candidate is eligible for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW). Eligibility is dependent on the candidate having completed a University Level Social Work degree accredited by the AASW and that the candidate does not have any other outstanding professional competency or ethical issues or complaints known to the AASW which may preclude membership to the association.
- This position may be required to obtain a Blue Card if clinically seeing a child under the age of 18 years as part of role. The Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian Act 2000 requires Queensland Health to seek a ‘working with children check; from the Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian prior to appointment to this position.
- C Class Motor Vehicle Licence.
- Pre-employment screening will be conducted for the successful applicant, including Criminal History checks.
- This is a VPD risk role and may require evidence of vaccination or immunity to: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis, and Tuberculosis.
- A period of probation may apply.
