Your Opportunity 

We are seeking a passionate and industry experienced Community Services teacher to deliver an advanced qualification that prepares students for real-world roles supporting at-risk individuals and communities. 

In this role, you will design and deliver engaging, applied learning across classroom, online and workplace settings, develop students’ high-level communication and case management skills and guide them in working with others in the community, applying legal and ethical frameworks in practice. 

You will work closely with industry, use contemporary teaching methods, and provide tailored support to ensure students graduate job-ready and confident to enter a growing sector with strong employment outcomes.

The Role 

As a TAFE Teacher, you have the opportunity to influence the careers of future industry persons by sharing your extensive industry knowledge to students in a classroom or other educational setting.

We have an exciting temporary part-time (0.8 FTE) Teacher position available until 11 December 2026 (unless otherwise determined) to join our Community Services team at TAFE Queensland’s South Bank Campus.

In addition to this role, there may be further full-time opportunities within the Community Services team to support Semester 2, 2026 delivery. We encourage applicants to apply now to be considered for these potential upcoming positions.

This position reports to the Educational Team Leader.

Salary

The salary range for a Teacher Step 1 - 4 is $73,344.02 - $84,174.48 (gross) per annum plus superannuation contributions of 12.75% of your salary.

  • Up to five (5) weeks Non-Attendance Time programmed annually for preparation
  • Paid overtime arrangements may be available, according to operational requirements, with generous compensation

Mandatory Requirements 

Applicants must possess the following:

  • Vocational competencies at least to the level being delivered and assessed;
    • CHC52021 Diploma of Community Services
  • current industry skills directly relevant to the training and assessment being provided;
  • current knowledge and skills in vocational training and learning that informs the training and assessment provided;
  • evidence of undertaking professional development in the fields of the knowledge and practice of vocational training, learning and assessment including competency-based training and assessment;
  • Working with Children Check (Blue Card). For further information, please access: http://www.bluecard.qld.gov.au/;
  • Current Queensland Driver’s license.

Additionally, to become a TAFE Teacher, you must hold one of the following training and assessment credentials:

  • TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or its successor; or
  • TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment; or 
  • TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment; plus:
    • TAELLN411 or its successor or TAELLN401A; and
    • TAEASS502 or its successor or TAEASS502A or TAEASS502B; or
  • A credential issued by a higher education provider which would enable the individual to satisfy the academic requirements for registration as a secondary school teacher and one (1) of the following credentials:
    • TAESS00024 VET Delivered to School Students Teacher Enhancement Skill Set or its successor, or 
    • TAESS00019 Assessor Skill Set or its successor; or
    • TAESS00011 Assessor Skill Set; or 
  • A diploma or higher-level qualification in adult or vocational education (approved by TAFE Queensland).

Note: Proof of qualifications and industry currency/experience to be provided at interview.
