About us:

Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service provide an extensive range of health services at more than 30 regional, rural and remote facilities across a geographical area of 142,900 square kilometres. The Health Service is 95 percent self-sufficient with only a small number of high- level acute services being provided in Townsville and Brisbane. 

Mareeba Hospital services a local population of approximately 10,500 people, and provides a variety of inpatient, outpatient, and emergency services. The facility has an overnight capacity of 52 beds, including 12 maternity beds, as well as supporting clinical and diagnostic services such as allied health, medical imaging, pharmacy, and pathology. 
The Mareeba region features local attractions such as mountain bike riding, various wineries, and several coffee plantations, and is a short drive away from other scenic towns in the Atherton Tablelands region. 

Mareeba Hospital provides healthcare services to the local community, supporting primary health centres and Lotus Glen Correctional Centre. It offers emergency care, medical imaging, maternity, and medical wards, along with a variety of specialist outpatient services.

Mareeba East ward and Theatres provide a range of essential healthcare services, ensuring individuals in the community have access to quality care close to home. The ward offers inpatient medical, surgical, palliative, and rehabilitation care, alongside day procedure services to support patients requiring short-term interventions. With a dedicated team, the ward delivers comprehensive inpatient and day surgery services.

About your role: 

This role will include (but is not limitied to):

  • Assisting with day surgery procedures and pre-admission clinic.
  • Direct patient care including ADLs and assessments. 
  • Effective communication within the team to help ensure smooth workflow and quality patient outcomes.
