Teacher Aide - Brisbane School of Distance Education

We are seeking a highly organised and technology-savvy Teacher Aide to provide administrative and operational support to the HASS faculty. This varied role includes supporting assessment and examination processes, maintaining student records, assisting with online lessons, and supporting teachers and school leaders to deliver high-quality learning programs.

The ideal applicant will have strong digital and communication skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced online environment. Experience with OneSchool and Microsoft Office applications will be highly regarded.

About the Role:

Daily administrative tasks:

  • Attendance, inbox and phone monitoring
  • HOD support and daily communications
  • Mail distribution and stationery ordering
  • OneSchool data entry and maintenance

Exam preparation:

  • Cohort lists, supervisor sommunication and AARA updates
  • Exam distribution, printing coordination and packaging
  • Onsite exam support and scanning
  • Assessment review and formatting

End of semester reporting processes:

  • Teacher folder setup
  • Reporting and Excel spreadsheets

General duties:

  • Online lesson support via Teams
  • Assessment calendars and planning documents
  • Faculty administration and scheduling support
  • Records management and archiving
  • OneNote setup and training compliance

Fire and evacuation procedures:

  • Attendance monitoring
  • Induction support
  • Emergency response duties (Red Hat)

Please Note:

  • Aides are also required to work 12.5% additional hours to accrue additional hours to access paid vacations, therefore this position is 40 hours per week.
  • The overview above is not an exhaustive list of tasks the HASS TA undertakes. Many ad-hoc tasks are required to be completed to ensure adequate support is in place resulting in a smooth running faculty
  • The hands-on nature of the role in HASS means that TAs cannot access FWA

About You:

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • High level I.T. skills as many tasks are performed on-line
  • Ability to work under the direction of a teacher in on-line classes
  • Ability to problem solve and be flexible
  • Excellent administration skills as this role is predominantly administration in nature - supporting 35 teacher and 2 HODS in the HASS Dept
  • Ability to commence work onsite by 8.00am daily
