The program includes building three new hospitals, expanding 11, upgrading rural and regional health facilities and delivering thousands of new hospital beds. In addition, the intent is for this to be the first tranche of a 15-year program of infrastructure investments. About the role
The Principal Advisor, Executive Governance leads HIQ's key governance forums and coordinates the delivery of timely, accurate and high-quality cross-departmental advice to support informed decision-making and compliance with departmental and whole-of-government requirements.
As the principal liaison between the Deputy Director-General, HIQ and key governance bodies, including the Executive Committee, Program Management Board and Strategic Issues Forum, the role ensures the effective coordination of critical information and supports high standards of governance and accountability across HIQ.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the delivery of end-to-end secretariat functions for HIQ's key governance forums.
- Lead the preparation and quality assurance of high-level briefing materials, submissions and governance papers, ensuring they are accurate, strategically aligned and meet executive and whole-of-government standards.
- Monitor, track and report on governance actions, decisions and strategic deliverables, proactively escalating risks, delays or issues to senior leadership.
- Provide strategic advice to the Director, ODDG and Deputy Director-General on governance matters, emerging risks, and opportunities to enhance governance effectiveness.
About You
- Demonstrated negotiation, consultation, facilitation and conflict management skills, with the proven ability to develop effective working and strategic relationships with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience operating in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment, with the ability to prioritise competing demands, manage sensitive matters and deliver high-quality outcomes within tight timeframes.
- Highly developed written communication skills, including demonstrated experience preparing, reviewing and quality assuring complex briefing materials, reports, submissions and executive correspondence.
- High-level analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex information, resolve inconsistencies and ensure accuracy and alignment with organisational priorities.
