Tamborine Mountain State High School is seeking an experienced and collaborative Head of Department - Student Services to lead the strategic coordination of student wellbeing, engagement, inclusion, and support services across our school. This role requires an innovative leader with an exceptional interpersonal and organisational skills, the ability to build the capability of staff, and experience working collaboratively with students, families, external agencies, and community partners. This is a temporary full-time position until 11 December, unless otherwise determined.

About Us:
Tamborine Mountain State High School is located in the hinterland of the Gold Coast region. It provides a unique educational setting, renowned for its beautiful landscaping and creative architecture.
Located in the Scenic Rim Shire, Tamborine Mountain State High School is part of the South East Education Region. The school was opened in 1999 as a government funded co-educational secondary annex of Helensvale State High School and catered for Years 8-10. 2002 saw Tamborine Mountain State High School become a school in its own right supporting Years 8-12.
The school provides them with multiple pathways to excel in academic, cultural and sporting arenas. We continue the development of our programs through student, parent and teacher feedback. The school is well resourced and technologically sophisticated. This ensures the programs reflect and complement the school's contemporary approach to secondary education.
The Tamborine community has a strong and passionate ownership of the school and collectively aspire to an exceptional performance level for staff and students.
About the Role:
Responsibilities include, but not limited to;
- Lead strategic student support initiatives that improve student learning, engagement, attendance, wellbeing, and successful transitions, with a focus on equitable outcomes for all students, including those from disadvantaged backgrounds and new arrivals.
- Develop and implement evidence-informed intervention strategies by monitoring student achievement, attendance, and behaviour, coordinating targeted supports, and using data to inform school improvement and reporting.
- Build the capability of staff and school leaders by providing guidance, resources, and leadership in student support, attendance improvement, wellbeing, and inclusive practices across the school.
- Foster strong partnerships with students, families, higher education providers, community organisations, businesses, and external agencies to strengthen student engagement, wellbeing, and educational success.
- Provide effective operational and strategic leadership by embedding socially just practices, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and departmental policies, and managing departmental human, financial, curriculum, and physical resources to achieve school priorities.
