About the role

Provide lived-experience based support as an Advanced Peer Worker within the Mental Health Short Stay Unit at Caboolture Hospital. This role focuses on supporting people experiencing mental health crisis, alongside their families, carers, and kin, by drawing on personal lived experience of mental illness and recovery to promote hope, engagement, and recovery-oriented care.

You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to assist in assessment, care planning, and delivery of recovery-focused support. The role involves modelling recovery strategies, advocating for consumers, and facilitating goal setting and wellbeing planning, while contributing to a safe, person-centred, and trauma-informed care environment.

  • Use lived experience to support individuals in mental health crisis and promote recovery-oriented care
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to support assessment and care planning
  • Advocate for consumers, families, and carers in clinical and recovery processes
  • Deliver education, mentoring, and support relating to lived experience and recovery principles
  • Contribute to quality improvement, safety initiatives, and service development
