This temporary vacancy is open to Expressions of Interest and any extensions to this appointment will not exceed 12 months.
About Mornington Island State School:
Located in the Gulf of Carpentaria, Mornington Island State School is a vibrant Prep to Year 10. Consideration will be given to flexible working arrangements, including undertaking aspects of the role remotely, supported by regular fly-in visits to Mornington Island throughout each term.
About the Role:
As the Business Manager, you will work closely with the Principal and leadership team to provide strategic and operational leadership across a range of corporate services. You will be responsible for the efficient management of the school's financial, human resource, facilities and administrative functions while supporting the achievement of the school's improvement agenda.
Responsibilities Include:
- Providing high-level financial management, budgeting, and resource planning advice.
- Leading human resource and workforce management processes.
- Managing school facilities, housing, procurement and asset management.
- Supervising and supporting administrative staff.
- Ensuring compliance with departmental policies, procedures, and legislative requirements.
- Contributing to strategic planning and decision-making as a member of the school leadership team.
- Building positive relationships with staff, community members, and external stakeholders.
About You:
We are seeking a proactive and solutions-focused leader who can demonstrate:
- Strong financial and business management skills.
- Experience leading administrative and operational functions.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- The ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to teamwork.
- Experience working in schools, government or remote settings will be highly regarded.
