You bring strong knowledge of Queensland's biomedical and clinical trials landscape, with an understanding of key players, precincts and global partnerships across the Asia-Pacific. In this role, you will leverage your commercial acumen to identify and accelerate opportunities to attract investment into Queensland and support the export of our clinical trial, vaccine and broader life sciences capabilities - delivering tangible economic value, job creation and strengthening Queensland's position as a leading biomedical innovation hub.

About the Team/Organisation
The Health, Innovation and Technology (HIT) unit sits within Queensland Operations at Trade and Investment Queensland (TIQ) and plays a critical role in delivering the Queensland Trade and Investment Strategy 2022-2032. The team promotes Queensland as a leading knowledge-based economy, driving export growth and attracting investment across priority sectors including biomedical, healthtech, critical and digital technologies, and the sports economy.

Benefits
This is a unique opportunity to shape Queensland's global reputation in life sciences while working with a high-performing, collaborative team. You will engage with industry leaders, researchers and international partners, contribute to high-profile initiatives and events, and help deliver meaningful economic outcomes including job creation and sector growth.

About the Role
As Principal Trade and Investment Officer, you will lead trade promotion and investment attraction across Queensland's life sciences sector, with a strong focus on biomedical, clinical trials and vaccines. You will provide strategic leadership, market intelligence and authoritative advice to drive sector priorities, support Queensland companies to scale globally, and attract inbound investment. The role also includes leading key initiatives, managing stakeholder relationships across government and industry, and mentoring a team member to deliver coordinated outcomes.

Skills and Experience
You bring deep knowledge of the life sciences ecosystem, strong commercial acumen and experience delivering trade and investment outcomes. You are a confident communicator with the ability to influence senior stakeholders, develop high-quality advice and translate market insights into strategy.
