About the role
Take responsibility for managing patients across preoperative, postoperative recovery units, and the Ward, ensuring effective communication with consultants and other specialties. Oversee the selection and timely evaluation of investigations, maintain clear and accurate clinical documentation, including discharge summaries, and liaise with nursing and allied health staff to deliver coordinated care. Additionally, provide medico-legal reports as required and communicate compassionately with patients and their families.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:
- Take responsibility for overall management of patients in the preoperative and post operative recovery units as well as the Ward providing information to consultants and those of other specialities; implement decisions of senior medical staff for patient care.
- Supervise the selection and prompt evaluation of appropriate investigations.
- Communicate effectively with patients and their relatives. Ensure appropriate documentation is placed in the patient clinical record. This includes a discharge summary at the time the patient leaves the unit.
- Maintain appropriate liaison with nursing staff and allied health personnel.
