About the role
Provide advanced clinical leadership and specialist expertise in patient safety, clinical governance, and incident management within Metro North Mental Health. This role supports the delivery of safe, high-quality mental health and alcohol and drug services through the coordination of clinical incident management processes, analysis of significant incidents, and implementation of strategies that strengthen patient safety and service improvement.
You will work closely with executive leaders, multidisciplinary teams, and safety and quality stakeholders to coordinate incident reviews, support mortality and morbidity processes, monitor coronial matters, and provide expert advice on safety, quality, and risk management. The role requires advanced clinical judgement, leadership, and the ability to influence improvements in patient safety culture and clinical governance systems across Metro North Mental Health.
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:
- Provide expert leadership and coordination of clinical incident management and patient safety activities within mental health services
- Support the review, analysis, and reporting of high-risk clinical incidents, sentinel events, mortality reviews, and coronial matters
- Deliver specialist advice and support relating to safety, quality, risk management, and clinical governance
- Collaborate effectively with executive leaders, multidisciplinary teams, and stakeholders to promote a strong patient safety culture
- Lead and contribute to service improvement, education, and clinical governance initiatives that enhance safety and quality outcomes
