The Parole Board Queensland was established as an independent authority, and its statutory functions and powers are exercised independently from influence by Queensland Corrective Services (QCS).
As an independent decision-making body, the Board receives information from a range of people, service providers and organisations. The Board scrutinizes this information in order to maintain public confidence through the transparency of the parole decision-making process.
The Secretariat is a business unit established under the Community Corrections and Specialist Operations division of QCS. The Secretariat supports the Board through the provision of administrative and legal support in accordance with QCS’ statutory obligations relating to the operations of the Board.

We need you to have strong problem-solving skills, interpersonal and negotiation skills, the ability to meet the challenges of working in a demanding environment, provide legal advice on Parole Board Queensland activities and processes, recommend outcomes and decisions, knowledge of emerging or current case law as well as legislative governance and risk mitigation.
Your day to day will be ensuring the Legal Services Unit supports the Board through preparation of timely advice, reports, correspondence and briefing notes on legal issues, liaising with Crown Law and other legal service providers to ensure a consistent, coordinated and effective approach to the provision of legal services to the Board. In addition to promoting and nurturing a team culture that supports positive morale and value diversity.
