Senior Adviser Business Services


Woodford Correctional Centre; Custodial Operations; Woodford

• Manage the day-to-day activities of the Centres Business Services areas.
• Supervision of business services staff.
• Review and evaluate administrative systems and recommend improvements to increase their efficiency and effectiveness.
• Liaise with the General Manager and other members of the senior management team and provide advice on the administrative aspects of the facility’s operations.
• Monitor the financial performance of the Centre and provide advice to the Correctional Manager, Business Services regarding significant variances to budget.
• Monitor and coordinate Business Services functions including external service providers of goods and services to the Centre.
• Assist with the develop and write business cases and funding submissions to reflect the needs of the centre.
• Assist with management of agreements/contracts of suppliers to the centre.

  • Experience in financial functions and managing administration and logistical functions.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of complex financial modelling including budget forecasting and performance analysis including risk assessment and management identification and analysis.
  • Demonstrated skills in development and maintenance of reporting systems.
  • Demonstrated skills in the analysis of data, the understanding of business systems and processes and in the provision of budget and activity reporting to meet the needs of the centre.
  • Staff management skills and experience including knowledge of and demonstrated ability to implement contemporary human resource management practices.
  • Experience in managing and co-ordinating a wide range of account management functions
  • Experience with the use of financial management systems (SAP would be an advantage)
  • Knowledge, expertise and skill in financial management systems, legislation, policies and procedures and the capacity to interpret such policies and provide authoritative advice to centre management.
  • High level written and oral communication skills together with interpersonal skills, including the proven ability to negotiate to achieve difficult and conflicting objectives and liaise, consult, and negotiate with senior staff and other key stakeholders to resolve significant resource issues.
  • Effective interpersonal skills as evidenced by the ability to build successful relationships with internal and external stakeholders with a range of competing interests.
