About the Role:

  • Lead EDQ's legal function, delivering strategic, commercially focused advice to support major development and transactional outcomes.
  • Provide strategic legal advice aligned to EDQ's business objectives and delivery priorities.
  • Lead and manage the legal function and team, ensuring high-quality, timely outcomes.
  • Oversee complex real estate, development and transactional matters.
  • Manage legal risk, compliance and regulatory obligations within a government context.
  • Drive efficient use of legal resources, including oversight of legal expenditure.

About You:
A highly experienced legal leader, you bring strong commercial acumen and the ability to deliver practical, outcome focused advice in complex environments.

  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent, with 10+ years post-admission experience in legal practice. And qualified to practice as legal practitioner in Australia
  • Demonstrated experience as a senior legal practitioner in a leadership role, including managing or leading a legal team.
  • Strong leadership capability with a commitment to developing, mentoring and building team capability, with an empowering leadership style.
  • Highly commercial and solution-oriented thinker, able to provide practical legal advice that balances risk, outcomes and multiple options.
  • Proven ability to respond quickly to complex issues and operate effectively in dynamic, high-pressure environments.
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence at executive level and act as a trusted internal advisor.
  • Experience across government and/or private sector legal environments, with familiarity using legal and corporate systems to improve efficiency.
  • Experience across planning, real estate transactions, and would be highly desirable.
