We're excited to welcome a Peer Worker – Lived Experience - Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander (Female) to our Persistent Pain Management Service.

A Peer Worker with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander background is preferable as this position will be providing support directly in the community to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with lived experience of persistent pain as well as other vulnerable groups.
A Peer Support Worker works under direction to facilitate the delivery of supports to consumers of the Sunshine Coast Persistent Pain Management Service (SC PPMS). A Peer Support Worker is employed to assist consumers, carers and families, service providers and Non-Government Organisations to develop a better understanding of the self-management treatment approach for persistent pain while utilising a lived experience of persistent pain to work towards achieving the best outcomes for consumers.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Work in collaboration with clinical team members to support all facets of care and support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander consumers in their journey with the SC PPMS.
- Strengthen the quality and continuation of culturally competent care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander consumers collaboration with NGO's and assist with building their capacity to provide service to consumers with persistent pain.
- Provide individualised, one-to-one peer connection, practical assistance and education, drawing on your own lived/living experience of persistent pain, service-use and self-management and your professional experience as a Peer Worker (if any).
- Build safe, trusting relationships with consumers based on shared lived/living experience and the principles and values of peer support work.
Remuneration value up to $40 234 p.a, comprising salary rates $39.98 - $44.46 p.h., (part time, 30.4 hrs p.f.), employer contribution to superannuation (12.75%) and annual leave loading (17.5%) (AO3).
