Workers' Compensation Investigations and Prosecution Services investigates and prosecutes offences under the Workers' Compensation and Rehabilitation Act 2003. This includes matters involving fraud, false or misleading information, claim farming, failure to maintain appropriate workers' compensation insurance, and misuse of workers' compensation documents.
About the role:
As a Prosecutor, you will provide high-quality prosecution services on behalf of the Workers' Compensation Regulator. Working closely with investigators and legal professionals, you will:
• Assess briefs of evidence and provide legal advice.
• Prepare matters for sentence, hearings and trial.
• Appear in court as a prosecutor and instruct external counsel in more complex matters.
• Liaise with courts, investigators, defence representatives, witnesses and other stakeholders.
• Provide timely advice on prosecution outcomes.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and knowledge sharing within the team.
About you:
We're looking for someone who:
• Is admitted, or eligible for admission, as a legal practitioner in the Supreme Court of Queensland.
• Can critically analyse evidence and apply legislation to provide sound legal advice.
• Has strong advocacy and communication skills.
• Produces accurate, high-quality legal documents.
• Builds positive relationships with a range of stakeholders.
• Enjoys working collaboratively in a professional team environment.
