ICT Cyber Security Analyst

As a Cyber Security Analyst you contribute to the Cyber Security team by playing a vital role in keeping DSDIP’s proprietary and sensitive information secure. The Cyber Security Analyst conducts security assessments, implements security platforms, ensures systems are up to date, monitors security information and event management (SIEM) and other systems for potential cyber events and/or vulnerabilities.
The position works collaboratively with ITS Managers and stakeholders to design, implement and document effective security controls that mitigate risks and support business objectives. The ICT Cyber Security Analyst will also provide informed and risk-based advice to the Manager, Cyber Security on emerging threats, control effectiveness and opportunities to uplift the department’s cyber security posture.

As a Cyber Security Analyst your responsibilities will include:
• Perform event correlation, monitoring, research and analysis across enterprise security platforms, including SIEM, SOAR, firewalls, EDR, email gateway and web content filtering to gain situational awareness and determine the effectiveness and impact of observed security incidents.
• Implement and administer security technologies including PAM solutions, application allow listing and MDR/MDDR systems to reduce organisational risk.
• Investigate and analyse potential security threats, implement mitigations and clearly articulate the impact on systems and information assets.
• Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to define security objectives to ensure alignment with business requirements, including supporting project delivery.
• Conduct research and provide guidance to stakeholders on emerging information security threats, industry trends and technologies to support informed decisionmaking.
• Contribute to the development of strategic project plans and schedules, including identifying risks, issues and appropriate mitigation strategies.
• Perform vulnerability assessments and identify exploits, vulnerabilities or potential threats through offensive security techniques.
• Implement security remediation tasks to resolve identified issues.
• Lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of security baselines, auditing findings and framework compliance.
• Problem solve and provide resolutions for second and third-tier security support requests under minimal supervision.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to the Cyber Security Officer by collaboratively uplifting the agencies security posture.
