About us:

The New Endings Men's Program provides culturally safe care coordination, advocacy and mentoring for vulnerable Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men across Central Queensland. Supporting men transitioning from custody and those at risk of reoffending, the program works to improve health, social and emotional wellbeing through trusted relationships and culturally responsive care.

With a strong focus on addressing complex needs, including mental health, alcohol and other drug misuse, domestic and family violence, the service empowers men to access healthcare, build resilience and take ownership of their wellbeing while contributing to safer, healthier communities.

About the role:

  • Build strong partnerships with community and criminal justice stakeholders to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men transitioning successfully from custody back into the community.
  • Assess and respond to individual health and wellbeing needs, including mental health, alcohol and other drug use, domestic and family violence, and harm minimisation strategies.
  • Support the planning, delivery and continuous improvement of the New Endings Men's Program through case reviews, data management, program evaluation and participation in committees and interagency meetings.
  • Promote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men's health by organising community events, developing culturally appropriate health promotion resources, and helping improve access to services.

About you:

  • Experience in the planning, development and delivery of health promotion, education, and preventive community programs and research that are culturally appropriate and build community capacity for self-determination in health and wellness.
  • Demonstrated ability to network; liaise between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community organisations, public sector agencies and or community stakeholders.
  • Highly desirable to have knowledge of Corrective (Prison) Services and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Close the Gap health policy and culture and the ability to apply such knowledge.
  • Ability to liaise with ex-prisoners in a non-judgemental manner within the New Endings Program objectives.

What we offer:

Total monthly remuneration value of up to $9,800 p.m. is comprised of:

  • An hourly rate between $47.18 - $51.98 p.h.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
