About Us
The Act establishes the Council as a statutory body overseeing a modern licensing framework for over 1,300 pharmacy businesses, ensuring the professional, safe, and competent delivery of pharmacy services.

The Role
Join a multidisciplinary team administering the Pharmacy Business Ownership Act 2024 (Act) within the newly established Queensland Pharmacy Business Ownership Council (Council). This dynamic, fast-paced environment requires adaptability, responsiveness, and a proactive mindset.

As Manager, Licensing and Compliance, you will work closely with the Director, Licensing & Compliance, to oversee the licensing scheme for pharmacy business ownership in Queensland. Operating in a ‘start-up' environment, you will help develop and implement collaborative, educative, and risk-based compliance monitoring and enforcement programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a small team to process large volumes of pharmacy business licence applications, ensuring compliance with legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Review complex applications promptly and accurately, adhering to Council policies and legislative requirements.
  • Provide recommendations to the Director and exercise delegated legislative decision-making functions as required.
  • Prepare clear, accurate, and compliant written documents to support decision-making and application processes.

The Successful Person
To excel in this role, you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience in a complex regulatory and licensing environment with the ability to make complex decisions.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with stakeholders and produce high-quality written reports, decisions, and advice.
  • Proven experience managing teams, including people, resources, processes, and systems, with a focus on fostering business improvement, adaptability, and high performance.
  • While not essential, a relevant qualification (e.g., law, business, management) is highly regarded.

Benefits

  • A fast-paced, innovative environment.
  • A supportive workplace where your ideas and voice matter.
  • Competitive salary, generous superannuation, and leave loading.
  • Flexible work arrangements.

How to Apply
Submit:

  • A short-written response (1–2 pages, dot points acceptable) outlining how your experience, abilities, knowledge, and personal qualities align with the key responsibilities and skill requirements of the role.
  • Your current CV or resume, including two referees who can attest to your capabilities, work performance, and conduct within the past two years (preferably your current or immediate past supervisor).
  • Applications will remain current for a period of up to 12 months and may be considered for other vacancies (identical or similar).
  • Appointments are subject to criminal history checks in accordance with section 52 of the Public Sector Act 2022.
  • Prior to appointment, current and previous public sector employees are required to disclose any history of serious disciplinary action in accordance with section 71 of the Public Sector Act 2022.
  • All employees are required to disclose any interest/s that conflict, may conflict or may be perceived to conflict with the discharge of their duties in accordance with section 89, 182 or 183 of the Public Sector Act 2022.
