We are seeking a temporary flexible full-time Senior Team Leader in Family Law, to provide leadership and supervision to a team of professional staff and ensures that high-quality services are delivered to departmental staff and relevant jurisdictional partners. The role ensures the provision of expert practice advice and guidance on the management of complex cases that arise from its key program areas.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Possession of a degree in social work, the behavioural sciences or legal studies from a recognised tertiary institution.
  • Ability to work outside normal hours
  • To hold a blue card www.bluecard.qld.gov.au and
  • Travel within Queensland and Interstate may be required at times.

Role Specific/Technical Skills:

  • You possess expertise in the leadership of professional staff and building capacity for those engaged in working with families and children across various court jurisdictions and borders. You manage competing demands in a socio-legal setting and can develop an agile service delivery model to meet organisational change.
  • You recognise and articulate the interests of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and have the capacity to consult and negotiate according to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander protocols.  You know about and understand the issues that impact on First Nations people in contemporary society.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide program management and leadership to staff, including allocate and prioritise work tasks in accordance with departmental procedures, and actively participate as a senior officer of the Court Services workgroup and leadership team.
  • Provide expert advice and assistance to team members and coordinate the provision of authoritative advice and consultancy to departmental staff and other key stakeholders.
  • Maintain effective data and recording systems that support the efficient management of workloads and enable robust service delivery reporting systems.
  • Ensure that staff and other resources are effectively managed to meet throughputs, consistent with relevant legal requirements, government policy, and contemporary best practice standards.
  • Develop and maintain a system of continuous improvement through the evaluation of the relevant program's service delivery and broader training and development initiatives.
  • Provide advice, monitor, and report to the Manager on complex cases which are referred to Court Services.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of policies, practices, and procedures in relation to Child Safety matters arising from the key program areas.
  • Develop collaborative, professional relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders including State and Commonwealth entities, judicial officers and court personnel, private and government legal practitioners, and QCAT, including participation in local, state-wide and national forums.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of state-wide training and professional development programs associated with the delivery of departmental services in relevant specialist jurisdictions.

Delegations:

Senior Team Leader (Court Services) are an authorised officer and hold specific delegations and authorisations under relevant legislation (Child Protection Act 1999, Child Protection (International Measures) Act 2003, Adoption Act 2009, Family Law Act 1975, Family Law (Child Abduction Convention) Regulations 1986).

This position is aligned to the Team Leader profile of the Queensland Public Service Leadership competencies for Queensland.  To be successful in this role, you will be required to demonstrate capability in the areas detailed within the Candidate Information Package.

This position reports to the Manager.
