About the role
As a Staff Specialist or Senior Staff Specialist, you will provide specialist forensic psychiatric assessment, consultation and treatment for individuals with complex mental health needs who are involved with, or at risk of involvement with, the criminal justice system. Working within a highly skilled multidisciplinary team, you will support Hospital and Health Services across Queensland through clinical consultation, risk assessment, education and collaborative care planning.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:
- Provision of specialist forensic mental health input to Hospital and Health Service (HHS) mental health services through consultation and liaison, intervention and educational services.
- Undertake consultation, assessment, interventions and training in relation to areas of general violence risk as well as specialist problem areas (e.g. stalking, arson and sex offending).
- Provide timely feedback to referring services, including the provision of reports, as per the Chief Psychiatrist Policy for the Treatment and care of patients subject to a Forensic Order, Treatment Support Order or other identified Higher Risk Patients and in line with the Statewide Violence Risk Assessment and Management Framework.
- Provide psychiatry support to the various arms of the QFMHS as required. Work in partnership across the Queensland Forensic Mental Health service system.
- Implementation of treatment interventions with high-risk patients.
