About the opportunity
Reporting to the Queensland Senior Trade and Investment Commissioner - Southeast Asia, and operating under broad direction, you will drive priority trade outcomes for Queensland exporters in Vietnam by identifying, promoting, and facilitating commercial opportunities across key Queensland Government industry sectors.
Based in TIQ's Hanoi office, you will operate as a senior individual contributor, applying deep market expertise, strong commercial judgment, and influential stakeholder engagement to deliver tangible export outcomes for Queensland businesses. The role does not have direct reports.
To be successful in this role you will
- Deliver priority trade initiatives and action plans aligned to Queensland's trade strategy in Vietnam, supporting exporters across key industry sectors to pursue commercial opportunities.
- Provide hands-on support to Queensland exporters by delivering high-quality market intelligence, commercial insights, business leads, partner identification, introductions, and due diligence to enable informed market entry and expansion decisions.
- Identify, develop, and progress trade opportunities by working directly with Vietnamese buyers, distributors, major corporates, and industry stakeholders to connect demand with Queensland capability.
- Prepare clear, timely, and insightful reports and advice on market developments, risks, and emerging opportunities within Vietnam's trade and investment landscape, contributing to informed decision-making by TIQ leadership and stakeholders.
- Build and maintain strong professional networks with Vietnamese government agencies, industry bodies, corporates, and intermediaries to support trade outcomes and enhance Queensland's commercial profile.
- Represent TIQ at relevant trade-focused events, exhibitions, and forums, promoting Queensland's priority sectors and capabilities and strengthening in-market awareness of Queensland offerings.
- Communicate Queensland's priority sector strengths and value propositions to Vietnamese stakeholders, tailoring messaging to support commercial engagement and deal progression.
- Support the planning and delivery of trade missions and business delegations, including market briefings, program development, stakeholder coordination, and in-market support, under the direction of the Commissioner.
- Collaborate closely with internal TIQ colleagues to ensure coordinated service delivery to clients and alignment with broader market priorities and government objectives.
To be eligible for consideration with this opportunity, you must have
1. Work Authorisation - be legally authorised to live and work within Vietnam at the time of appointment and provide the required evidence to support your eligibility.
2. Language - full professional fluency in both Vietnamese and English (written and spoken) is essential for this role.
