About us:
The School Based Youth Health Nurse aims to promote positive health outcomes for young people and their families through the provision of a primary health care service centred around the principles of early intervention, assessment and harm minimisation and prevention. The service provides, the opportunity for young people, their parents/carers, and members of the school community to access a health professional in the school setting for matters relating to the health and wellbeing of young people.
About the role:
- Deliver confidential, youth-friendly assessments and brief interventions on physical, mental, sexual, and social health issues for secondary state school students
- Recognise and respond to emerging health concerns (e.g. Mental health, substance use, risk behaviours) and provide early intervention support or referral to appropriate services
- Plan and deliver group education sessions on topics such as sexual health, relationships, mental wellbeing, and risk reduction, aligned with school and community needs.
- Liaise with Primary Health care providers, General Practitioners, mental health services, community organisation, and internal Queensland Health services to ensure students receive appropriate follow up care.
About you:
- Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) as a Registered Nurse (RN).
- Demonstrate advanced level clinical and problem-solving skills, expert planning and coordination skills in the clinical management and delivery of comprehensive person-centred care.
- Demonstrate an advanced understanding of the relevant standards and processes; engage in incident investigation, risk mitigation strategies that foster and support safe practice.
- Participate in developing and undertaking quality initiatives and audits, identifying inconsistencies between policy and practice.
What we offer:
Total remuneration value of up to $73,803.60 p.a. is comprised of:
- An hourly rate between $57.48 - $61.55 p.h.
- 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
- 17.5% leave loading
