About the work unit / facility

The Acute Adult Mental Health Inpatient Unit is a 38-bed specialist service located at Townsville University Hospital. We provide short-term, intensive assessment, treatment and support for adults experiencing acute mental health challenges, with a strong focus on recovery, stabilisation and wellbeing.

Our multidisciplinary team delivers compassionate, consumer-centred care across both low and high dependency inpatient settings, working collaboratively with consumers, families, carers and community partners to support recovery and successful transition back to the community.

  • Base salary range: $39.86 - $58.59 p.h.
  • 4 to 6 weeks annual leave with 14%-17.5% loading

About your opportunity

In this key role, you will play a vital role in supporting consumers experiencing acute episodes of mental illness through comprehensive assessment, care planning, therapeutic intervention, and discharge coordination. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will provide recovery-oriented, person-centred care that promotes dignity, wellbeing and positive health outcomes for consumers, their families and carers.

You will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure continuity of care and successful transition from inpatient treatment to community-based supports. The role offers opportunities to develop advanced clinical skills, exercise professional judgement in complex situations, participate in supervision and ongoing professional development, and contribute to quality improvement and learning initiatives within the service.
