About the work unit / facility

The Secure Mental Health Rehabilitation Unit is a 25-bed, mixed-gender, secure inpatient service providing recovery-focused care for consumers experiencing enduring mental illness. The unit supports consumers who require specialist and intensive rehabilitation to build independence and transition to less restrictive or community-based care settings.

Competitive salary and benefits:

  • Base salary range: $139,951 to $151,949 p.a. 
  • 4 to 6 weeks annual leave with 14%-17.5% loading
  • 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation

About your opportunity

In this pivotal role, you will lead the development, delivery and evaluation of mental health education programs and quality improvement initiatives that strengthen culturally validated practice and improve outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

As a Nurse Educator, you will champion Social and Emotional Wellbeing-informed, trauma-aware and recovery-oriented care by embedding culturally validated mental health interventions into everyday inpatient nursing practice.

Working collaboratively with Program Managers, Team Leaders, Senior Clinicians, Discipline Seniors and education staff across the Townsville Mental Health Service Group, you will plan and facilitate education and professional development initiatives that enhance clinical practice, strengthen workforce capability and support culturally safe, high-quality care.
