Who We Are:

Brisbane South State Secondary College (BSSSC), located in Dutton Park, opened in 2021 for its first cohort.

With a motto 'Novo Discere Mundo' - Learning for a New World, an exciting opportunity exists for an innovative Head of Department Technologies to become a part of the team.

Leaders coming into a new school environment need to have exceptional relational skills, be driven to build a positive, welcoming and supportive school culture and be willing and able to commit to the school's development and growth.

This is a unique opportunity and requires leaders to be focused on creating a culture where:

  • Listening to understand is highly valued. Sharing of knowledge and information and providing feedback are opportunities to learn and adapt.
  • Student voice and agency cultivates and influences personalised teaching and learning.
  • Staff demonstrate intentionally inviting behaviours to create trust and maintain positive relationships.
  • Student, staff and school successes are valued and celebrated.
  • Vision, strategy and priority frameworks are agreed, communicated and acted upon.
  • Individuals demonstrate autonomy with accountability; their performance and achievements are transparent.
  • Coaching challenges and supports next step actions and solution finding through a balance of stretch and risk.

In collaboration with the University of Queensland (UQ), Brisbane South State Secondary College is already setting the benchmark for secondary education nationally, and provides students with an innovative physical and pedagogical environment where teaching and learning is tailored for every student.

The College is part of an innovation district actively connecting with a network of local schools, businesses, hospitals, and health and social sciences, as well as UQ.  It is a highly responsive educational community embracing the opportunities of a rapidly changing world.

The vision for BSSSC is for it to be recognised nationally and internationally as innovative, inclusive and engaged in providing high quality, holistic learning environment for all students.
