About the Guidance Officer Role:

This talent pool is open to candidates who meet the mandatory requirements outlined in the attached role description, and will be current for Semester 2, 2026. 

Vacancies may be filled for periods of up to six months.

This temporary vacancy is open to Expressions of Interest and any extensions to this appointment will not exceed 12 months. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide counselling, psychoeducational assessment, and individual student support, addressing educational, behavioural, career, mental health, and family issues. Advocate for students and offer recommendations to teachers and parents.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and build partnerships with parents, staff, and external agencies to enhance student engagement, referral and access to programs, and comprehensive support.
  • Counsel and assist students in decision-making for education, social-emotional development, and career pathways, providing ongoing guidance during implementation.
  • Conduct observations and assessments to identify learning difficulties, disabilities, or emotional needs, recommending educational adjustments and interventions.

•    Positions may range in duration up to six months. 
•    Locations include Sunshine Coast, Gympie, Fraser Coast, Bundaberg, North Burnett

  • Applicants are encouraged to discuss their application with their current Line Manager to confirm support, and capacity to release. Approval for release from your substantive position will be required before any offer of a relieving opportunity is made. 
  • Applying to this pool does not guarantee employment or application assessment feedback. The region may also elect to progress a separate EOI for individual positions when considered appropriate.
  • Applicants must withdraw their application if they are no longer available or interested.
