About the role

Permanent part time opportunity providing expert clinical knowledge and clinical care for patients with a variety of conditions while supporting the general function of unit through role modelling and application of the principles of contemporary evidence-based patient focused care, education, leadership, and portfolio management. This role will be required to support all patients presenting to the Emergency Department with a specific focus on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients. In addition, this role will provide support and direction to the Registered Nurse and other non-registered nursing personnel in more complex situations.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:

  • Actively engage with Cultural Reporting Line to access culturally informed, guidance and advocacy.
  • Maintain access to Cultural Support, as determined by the individual, to strengthen cultural identity, wellbeing, and professional growth.
  • Participate in and represent the organisation at cultural events, community activities, and engagement forums to build respectful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities, with appropriate support provided by the team.
  • Practice in accordance with code of ethics, professional standards and legislation affecting nursing/midwifery practice by maintaining current knowledge and competence within scope of position.
  • Fulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with Schedule 2, Nurses and Midwives (Queensland Health Award) (2015) - Generic Level Statements (GLS) Nurse Grade 6 Band 1 and the Queensland Health and Metro North Health's commitments and values, in achievement of the organisational goals and Domains of Practice.
