About us:

The Central Queensland Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs Service delivers specialist mental health and alcohol and other drug care to communities across Rockhampton, the Capricorn Coast, Gladstone, Central Highlands and Banana regions.

Our service is entering an exciting new phase with the opening of a new Adult Inpatient Mental Health Service at Rockhampton Hospital. This state-of-the-art 32-bed facility will expand inpatient care and include high and low dependency units, therapy spaces, administrative support spaces, indoor garden areas and safety and layout features for the wellbeing of consumers and staff.

Working closely with inpatient, community and primary health partners, our multidisciplinary team takes an integrated approach to supporting the recovery and wellbeing of mental health patients. We are committed to delivering accessible, high-quality, recovery-focused care that makes a meaningful and lasting impact.

About the role:

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate comprehensive nursing care for consumers in accordance with professional standards.
  • Deliver direct care to consumers with complex care needs, ensuring clinical care is evidence-based and rights are upheld.
  • Provide shift coordination and leadership to support high-quality operations within the inpatient unit.
  • Maintain current knowledge of practice standards and provide mentorship and training for colleagues and students.
  • Contribute actively to interdisciplinary reviews of consumer care and foster constructive working relationships.

About the role:

  • You are a Registered Nurse with current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) through AHPRA.
  • You possess a strong commitment to identifying and implementing clinical evidence-based skills that improve patient safety.
  • You demonstrate clear knowledge of relevant standards, clinical guidelines, and advanced clinical practice related to risk management.
  • You have the ability to establish and maintain collaborative and effective relationships within a multidisciplinary team.
  • You work autonomously within a quality, safety, and risk framework to minimise clinical risk.
  • You demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills, alongside proficiency in contemporary clinical information systems.

What we offer:

Total remuneration value of up to $127,861 p.a. is comprised of:

  • An hourly rate between $44.06 - $56.51 p.h.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
