About the role

This is an opportunity for an Information Technology (IT) Business Analyst to take on a role within the Information Technology (IT) team at Legal Aid Queensland (LAQ). The IT team is responsible for the development, operation and support of information systems and related technologies in LAQ across Queensland.

As Senior Business Analyst (IT), you are responsible for liaising between IT and LAQ staff to articulate the business requirements as input for analysis of IT solutions. You will be a member of the IT Business Engagement Team and have the opportunity to work with the IT Project Management Office (PMO).

In this role you will:

  • Initiate, influence and maintain relationships with and between key stakeholders to provide a high quality IT engagement service to the organisation.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation to understand, identify and analyse their needs and gather detailed business requirements, including requirement prioritisation and scope.
  • Document business processes using industry modelling methodologies (e.g., BPMN, iDEF, etc).
  • Analyse business requirements and develop business requirement specifications to identify system and software solutions.
  • Use a range of communication techniques to share ideas, findings, insights and plans to cross-functional team members and management.
  • Liaise with LAQ client groups to translate business requirements into user stories and/or use cases to ensure technology  solutions are fit for purpose.

About you

  • You can identify business needs in an information technology context and have the ability to understand, interpret and communicate business requirements to both technical and non technical stakeholders.
  • You have knowledge in, and an ability to provide sound advice and recommendations regarding business process mapping and identifying business requirements, gaps and issues. You demonstrate careful planning, organisation, and clear documentation to achieve results.
  • You communicate in a clear, succinct, and deliberate manner, can prepare briefing notes and artifacts, adjust your message appropriately for stakeholders and have an analytical approach to your work. You can work with others to identify potential bias and clearly describe the rationale behind your decisions.
