Your employer - Mackay Hospital and Health Service

The Mackay Hospital and Health Service (MHHS) delivers public healthcare services across a geographically diverse region extending from Sarina in the south, Clermont in the west, and Bowen and the Whitsunday Islands in the north-east. The HHS supports a population of approximately 182,000 residents across an area of around 90,000 square kilometres.

MHHS comprises 6 hospitals, 2 Multi-Purpose Health Services, and 3 community health centres, employing more than 2,700 staff. Mackay Base Hospital serves as the primary referral centre for the region, supporting rural facilities including Proserpine, Bowen, Dysart, Clermont, Collinsville, Moranbah and Sarina.

About Collinsville Multi-Purpose Health Service (MPHS)

The Collinsville MPHS is a vital rural healthcare facility within MHHS providing a broad range of services to Collinsville and surrounding areas. The facility delivers inpatient care, emergency services, residential aged care, outpatient services, community health programs, and visiting specialist services. The service plays an important role in supporting the health needs of a geographically dispersed population and provides clinicians with the opportunity to practise across a diverse scope of rural medicine.

The Medical Officer with Right of Private Practice (MORPP) position offers a rewarding and varied rural generalist practice environment. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the successful applicant will contribute to the delivery of emergency, inpatient, outpatient and community-based healthcare services, while developing strong relationships with patients and the local community. The role provides opportunities to work autonomously, utilise a broad clinical skillset, and contribute to service development, clinical governance, teaching and mentoring activities. The private practice is co-located in the facility making working in both the hospital and primary care viable and rewarding.
