About the role

The Clinical Nurse works within the Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU) and Day Surgery Unit (DSU) at The Prince Charles Hospital, providing expert clinical care and advanced nursing support for patients undergoing a broad range of surgical and procedural interventions. The role applies contemporary evidence-based practice to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care while supporting safe and effective clinical outcomes in a fast-paced perioperative environment.

The successful candidate will provide leadership in clinical decision-making, coordinate and support nursing staff in complex situations, contribute to education and professional development activities, and participate in quality improvement initiatives. The role also involves portfolio responsibilities, shift coordination and collaborative practice with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure exceptional standards of patient care.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:

  • Provide advanced clinical nursing care, assessment and intervention for patients within the Post Anaesthetic Care Unit and Day Surgery Unit.
  • Demonstrate leadership in clinical decision-making and provide support, guidance and direction to nursing staff in complex clinical situations.
  • Coordinate patient care and work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to promote safe, effective and patient-centred healthcare outcomes.
  • Support education, learning and professional development activities for staff, patients and their families.
  • Contribute to quality improvement, research and portfolio management activities that enhance clinical practice and service delivery.
