About the role
The Clinical Nurse – Ward 2A provides expert clinical nursing care and leadership within a specialised surgical ward at The Prince Charles Hospital. The role delivers advanced patient-centred care for a diverse surgical population, including thoracic, vascular, urology and general surgical patients, while supporting the day-to-day functioning of the unit through evidence-based practice, education, leadership and portfolio management.
The successful candidate will provide advanced clinical assessment and intervention, support nursing staff in complex clinical situations, coordinate care within a multidisciplinary team and contribute to quality improvement initiatives. The role also offers leadership opportunities through shift coordination, team leadership and support for professional development activities within the ward.

- Provide advanced clinical nursing care, assessment and intervention for patients across a broad range of surgical specialties.
- Demonstrate leadership in clinical decision-making and provide support and direction to nursing staff in complex and changing clinical environments.
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, high-quality and patient-centred care across the surgical continuum.
- Support education, learning and professional development activities for staff, patients and families while fostering an evidence-based practice environment.
- Contribute to quality improvement, research activities and portfolio responsibilities that enhance patient outcomes and service delivery.
