What your day could look like

As a Senior Social Worker or Psychologist, you'll play a vital role in helping children and families build stronger foundations for the future. From delivering specialised therapeutic support to guiding service improvements and mentoring others, you'll work with a collaborative team focused on achieving better outcomes for parents, carers and young children.

Every day, you'll contribute by:

  • Delivering evidence-informed therapeutic interventions that strengthen parenting confidence, family relationships and child wellbeing.
  • Partnering with families, colleagues and community services to create coordinated supports that achieve lasting outcomes.
  • Leading improvements in clinical practice, service quality and care delivery to enhance family-centred care.
  • Sharing your expertise through mentoring, supervision and education that strengthens capability across the broader team.

Let's Talk About You

You're someone who combines clinical expertise with genuine compassion. You build trust quickly, navigate complex situations with confidence, and bring integrity to every interaction. You understand the impact early support can have on a child's future and feel proud knowing your work helps families create positive, lasting change. With courage to lead, dignity in the way you work, and a passion for innovation, you're committed to improving outcomes for children, parents and communities.

Here's what will help you thrive in this role:

  • Registration or eligibility requirements relevant to Social Work or Psychology practice in Australia.
  • Significant experience supporting children and families, including complex parenting or family intervention work.
  • Advanced communication and relationship-building skills that foster collaboration across multidisciplinary teams and partner organisations.
  • Experience leading service improvements, mentoring colleagues and contributing to evidence-informed practice.

You'll stand out from the crowd if you have experience delivering early intervention programs for young children and families and/or additional training in parenting, attachment-based or behavioural therapeutic approaches.

Above all, you'll bring the values we live by at Darling Downs Health: Compassion, Integrity, Dignity, Innovation and Courage.
