About QBCC
As Queensland's independent building and construction regulator, we play a critical role in protecting people, supporting industry and building trust in a system that touches every part of our community, from safe homes and liveable communities to jobs and economic security.
We support a $69 billion industry by protecting consumers, ensuring the industry is well supported, providing a safety net through the Home Warranty Scheme, and proactively delivering education.
A thriving building and construction industry benefits us all. But it only works when people feel informed, enabled and protected. That's where we come in.
We support industry, protect consumers and uphold standards. We make fair and transparent decisions, deliver services that build trust, and support a strong, sustainable industry.
About the role
This position is based in Brisbane, and flexible arrangements can be considered upon application, including working remotely at a Regional QBCC office in Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, Rockhampton Maryborough, Sunshine Coast, Toowoomba and Gold Coast subject to availability. If working from a regional office, travel to the Brisbane office base may be required.
You'll tackle complex and sensitive investigations into suspected breaches of QBCC legislation, uncovering facts, assessing evidence, and helping drive fair, informed regulatory outcomes. From interpreting legislation and providing expert advice to preparing matters for prosecution and representing the QBCC in tribunals and courts, no two days are the same. Working alongside a diverse range of stakeholders, you'll influence decision-making, contribute to strategic regulatory activities, and play a key role in protecting consumers and strengthening confidence in Queensland's building industry.
About you
You're a seasoned investigator with a track record of managing complex, sensitive matters and delivering sound outcomes. Whether gained through law enforcement or a dedicated investigative role, your experience is backed by strong analytical thinking, sharp judgement, and the ability to navigate challenging situations with confidence. You build credibility quickly, engage effectively with industry, legal, and government stakeholders, and communicate complex issues with clarity and influence. This is not an entry-level role - it's an opportunity for an experienced professional ready to make an impact where it counts.
