Are you ready to make a real difference in the lives of young Queenslanders? Imagine leading programs that ensure the safety of thousands of school leavers while fostering a sense of community and responsibility. As a Project Officer with the Safer Schoolies Initiative (SSI), you'll be at the heart of a high-profile program that delivers real impact.

The Safer Schoolies Initiative is all about creating safe, respectful, and memorable experiences for Year 12 school leavers. Each year, tens of thousands of young people celebrate their end-of-school journey on the Gold Coast, and your work will help ensure their safety while minimising disruption to local communities. You'll also support state-wide coordination for other Schoolies destinations and deliver yearround education campaigns that promote safe and responsible behaviour. In this role, you'll lead the Safer Schoolies Volunteer Program, managing over 200
dedicated volunteers who are essential to the success of the initiative. From recruitment and training to on-the-ground coordination during Schoolies Week, you'll ensure everything runs smoothly. You'll also drive the Safer Schoolies education program, working with schools across Queensland to deliver engaging, impactful content that prepares students for their Schoolies experience.

Your work will involve:
Promoting and managing bookings for the Safer Schoolies education program. Supporting presenters and using feedback to improve education materials. Leading the volunteer program, including recruitment, training, and accreditation. Managing volunteer enquiries and ensuring seamless communication. Coordinating tasks, timelines, and milestones to deliver outcomes on time. Contributing to risk assessments, program evaluations, and continuous improvement.

Collaborating with a diverse team and using technology to streamline processes. This role is dynamic and hands-on. You'll need to be available to work on the ground during Schoolies Week on the Gold Coast, including evenings and extended hours. You'll also collaborate across multiple team functions in the lead-up to the event and may travel within Queensland as needed.

We're looking for someone who:
Has experience in program administration and coordination, ideally with volunteers. Can manage projects effectively, meeting deadlines and adapting to changing priorities.

Builds strong relationships with stakeholders and thrives in a team environment. Is organised, detail-oriented, and an excellent communicator.
Is proficient in Microsoft Office and other IT tools.

This role requires a valid Blue Card, as you'll be working with children and young people.

At the Department of Housing and Public Works, we're committed to making a real difference in the lives of Queenslanders. Whether it's supporting young people, enhancing community safety, or empowering First Nations communities, our work is driven by purpose and impact. We value diversity and inclusion and encourage applicants from all backgrounds to apply.

If you're ready to take on a role where your work truly matters, we'd love to hear from you. Apply now and help us create safer, brighter futures for Queensland's youth.

Applications will remain current for 12 months.
