Imagine being part of a team that makes a real difference in the lives of young people and their communities. As the Principal Project Officer for the Safer Schoolies Initiative, you'll lead the planning and delivery of support services for the Safer Schoolies Gold Coast Response, a program designed to ensure the safety of tens of thousands of Year 12 school leavers during their end-of-year celebrations. Your work will help create a safe, respectful, and memorable experience for young people while minimising disruption to local communities.
This role is more than just event management. You'll collaborate with nine Queensland Government agencies, seven community partners, and the City of Gold Coast to deliver a coordinated response. You'll also contribute to a year-long education and communication campaign, helping school leavers and their families understand the importance of safe and responsible behaviour during Schoolies.
What will you be doing?
You'll lead the development of detailed event planning documents, manage logistics, coordinate with stakeholders, and oversee on-site operations during Schoolies week. You'll also ensure compliance with Queensland's Child Safe Organisations Act 2024, manage project budgets, and provide strategic advice to improve the initiative's impact. This is a role where no two days are the same, and your work will directly contribute to the safety and well-being of young people.
Do you have experience in project or event management? Are you skilled at building strong relationships with stakeholders and adapting to dynamic environments? Do you thrive in a collaborative team setting? If so, we'd love to hear from you.
This role requires availability to work on-site during Schoolies week (Gold Coast) outside of normal business hours. Compensation for overtime is provided through time-off-in-lieu (TOIL), and rest days are scheduled immediately after the response to ensure your well-being.
We're looking for someone who can bring their expertise, energy, and passion to this important initiative. In return, you'll join a supportive team and have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact every day.
If you're ready to take on this rewarding challenge, apply now by submitting your cover letter and resume via the Smart Jobs and Careers website. Together, we can make a difference.
