The Student Child and Family Connect team works collaboratively with schools, families, government agencies and community organisations to identify and support young people who are disengaged or at risk of disengaging from education. Through coordinated case management, service collaboration and targeted intervention, the team assists young people to overcome barriers and successfully reconnect with education, training and employment pathways.
About the Role:
As the Senior Project Officer (AO5), you will support the delivery of regional engagement initiatives and undertake specialist project work that contributes to improved educational outcomes for vulnerable and disengaged young people.
You will work closely with regional staff, schools, community organisations and partner agencies to support the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of programs and initiatives aligned with departmental priorities.
Responsibilities Include:
- Undertaking specialist project activities to achieve identified project outcomes and regional priorities.
- Coordinating the planning, implementation and monitoring of projects and initiatives within agreed timeframes.
- Supporting the development and review of policies, procedures, systems and operational processes that improve service delivery.
- Monitoring project milestones, identifying risks and reporting potential issues or delays to senior management.
- Preparing reports, briefing notes, correspondence and other documentation to support informed decision-making.
- Providing clear and regular updates on project progress, outcomes and key performance indicators.
- Building and maintaining productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborating with schools, government agencies and community services to support coordinated responses for young people and families.
- Facilitating and participating in meetings, working groups and stakeholder forums.
- Contributing to continuous improvement activities that strengthen regional engagement services and student outcomes.
- Supporting organisational change initiatives and other strategic regional priorities as required.
About You:
It would be highly desirable to have the following skills and experience:
- Strong project coordination and organisational skills.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience developing productive partnerships across a range of stakeholders.
- Strong written communication skills, including the preparation of reports and briefing materials.
- The ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- A commitment to improving outcomes for vulnerable children, young people and families.
