About the role

The Business Manager provides high-level financial leadership, strategic advice and operational support to Metro North Mental Health. Working as a key advisor to the Finance Manager and Mental Health Senior Executive Leadership Team, the role contributes to sustainable service delivery through expert financial management, business planning, performance monitoring and resource allocation.

The successful candidate will oversee budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting and activity analysis while providing strategic insights to support service planning and decision-making. The role also leads business improvement initiatives, develops financial modelling and business cases, manages governance and compliance requirements, and fosters strong partnerships with clinical and operational stakeholders to achieve organisational objectives.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:

  • Provide expert financial management, strategic advice and business support to executive leaders to enable sustainable and effective service delivery.
  • Lead budget development, forecasting, financial analysis and performance reporting, providing recommendations to support informed decision-making.
  • Develop financial models, business cases and scenario analyses to support service planning, funding strategies and operational improvement initiatives.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with clinical and operational stakeholders while providing timely and practical financial advice.
  • Lead and develop staff, support governance and compliance requirements, and contribute to continuous improvement across business and finance functions.
