About the role
The Pharmacy Assistant contributes to the delivery of a safe, effective and patient-focused hospital pharmacy service within the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital. Working under the supervision of senior Pharmacy Assistants and Pharmacists, the role supports a broad range of pharmacy operations including medicines distribution, stock management, prescription processing, product preparation and associated support activities.
The successful candidate will provide high-quality customer service to patients and staff, assist with medication supply and pharmaceutical preparation activities, maintain pharmacy stock and inventory systems, and support the safe handling and distribution of medicines across hospital clinical areas. The role also contributes to a positive team culture while ensuring compliance with professional standards, legislative requirements and departmental procedures.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:
- Provide professional and efficient customer service while supporting patients and staff with pharmacy enquiries and medication requests.
- Assist with prescription processing, medication preparation and pharmaceutical supply activities in accordance with legislative and departmental requirements.
- Maintain pharmacy stock, inventory and medicines distribution systems, including stock rotation, expiry monitoring and storage compliance.
- Support the preparation of aseptic and non-aseptic pharmaceutical products while following relevant quality, safety and competency requirements.
- Contribute to a positive team environment through effective communication, ongoing learning and adherence to professional standards, policies and procedures.
