The Principal Communications Officer (Forensic Science Queensland) is responsible for developing and delivering complex communication strategies and initiatives, marketing and promotion, event management and working with key stakeholders to support FSQ.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Exercise a high level of autonomy and independent judgement in developing strategic communications approaches for complex issues and emerging priorities.
  • Provide high-level strategic communications advice to senior executives and project leads on complex or high profile FSQ issues.
  • Lead and coordinate major communications initiatives, programs or campaigns that have significant organisational impact or involve multiple stakeholders across the department.
  • Establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships to develop and deliver innovative, cost-effective and targeted communications solutions.
  • Lead, develop, deliver and evaluate high level communication strategies and services in a range of traditional and digital channels, including social media, website creation and maintenance and event management.
  • Manage correspondence, prepare briefing materials and other duties as required, keeping senior leaders in the branch and across the organisation updated on milestones, outcomes and issues.
  • Ensure all communication materials comply with Queensland Government branding and the Department's corporate identity guidelines.
  • Provide whole-of-government liaison and reporting on Queensland Government administrative and policy requirements.
  • Positively contribute to the continued development of organisational culture and staff engagement strategies.
