The Senior Technical Officer is responsible for supporting the delivery, operation, maintenance and technical assurance of road safety technology systems, including photographic detection devices, Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR), machine vision, radar, lidar and other Intelligent Transport Systems. To be successful in this role, the incumbent must have experience in electrical/electronic systems, equipment testing and maintenance, quality assurance practices, and the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues. The role also requires strong knowledge of relevant standards, procedures and safety requirements.

The role provides technical expertise to support the reliable operation of technology assets used to enhance road safety, compliance and enforcement outcomes across Queensland. The position is responsible for leading and coordinating technical activities associated with the testing, analysis, maintenance, calibration and performance monitoring of photographic detection devices and associated equipment. The role will also contribute to the development and improvement of technical procedures, quality management practices, and operational processes to ensure compliance with relevant legislation, standards, policies and Workplace Health and Safety requirements.

To be successful in this role, the incumbent must have demonstrated experience in electrical, electronic or auto-electrics or electrical systems, including the installation, testing, maintenance and fault diagnosis of electronic equipment. This includes experience in the fitting and installation of electronic/electrical devices (in-vehicle or fixed), associated wiring, and system components.

The applicant should have knowledge and experience in quality assurance practices, maintenance planning and scheduling, and the application of diagnostic tools and techniques to investigate and resolve complex system faults.

A diploma or trade qualification in Electrical, Electronics, Radio Communications or a related discipline is desirable.

The applicant should also hold, or be willing to obtain, relevant licences and certifications required to undertake the duties of the role, including a Queensland Open ‘C' Class Driver Licence, Construction Induction Card and relevant high-risk work licences.
